IBKR Student Trading Lab for Educators
Open an Educator Account
Opening an IBKR Student Trading Lab account is
as easy as 1-2-3.
Complete an Educator's Account Application.
You will receive an email confirmation within 1-2 business days, under normal business circumstances, informing you that the simulated account is open and ready to use.
Then you can login to Client Portal and send invitations to your students to open their own paper accounts.
Please note that once approved an account can be used in later semesters without delay.
All requests are swiftly processed. However, if a week or more has passed from your application submission and you have not received a confirmation email or invitation to open an account please check your spam filter or contact us at studentlab@interactivebrokers.com.

Virtual Trading of Crypto is Now Available
Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin digital currencies are now part of the broad range of instruments available in students' paper trading accounts.
IBKR GlobalTrader
Students can now use IBKR GlobalTrader. IBKR GlobalTrader is easy for novice investors, and powerful enough for experienced stock traders.
TWS Excel API
This tutorial will teach you how to download and enable the TWS Excel API.
Invite Students to Open Accounts
Once your Educator account is approved and active, you can setup individual trading accounts for your students.
- Log in to Client Portal via the "Log In" button on our website to send email invitations to your students to open a paper trading account.
- Students who receive the electronic invitation will need to complete the registration form to open a paper trading account. Students should also take note of their username and password.
